A unique tradition combining the new wine with an adrenaline sport: locals slide down the steep Calle del Plano on wooden boards, alongside wine-cellar openings and roasted chestnuts. In 2026 San Andrés (29 November) falls on the day of the general election, so Icod spreads the programme out: the first bottle of the new vintage is uncorked on Friday 27 November, the board-dragging and other activities take place on Saturday 28, and the usual streets are ready for the descents on Sunday 29. Free; watch from the side of the street, the boards are fast.
