Best beaches for families in the South?
Planning a family holiday to the south of Tenerife with two kids aged 4 and 7. Which beaches would you recommend for calm water and good facilities? We need somewhere with toilets and shade if possible.

Los Cristianos is perfect for young children — the bay is very sheltered and the water barely has any waves. There are toilets and showers right on the beach, plus plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
Playa del Duque in Costa Adeje is gorgeous and has calm water. It is on the pricier side for food and drinks nearby but the beach itself is free and very clean. Lifeguards are on duty throughout summer.
We took our 3-year-old to Playa de Torviscas and it was brilliant. Flat sandy bottom, very gentle waves, and you can rent sun loungers with parasols for around €10 per day. Really recommended.
Avoid El Médano if you have young children — it is beautiful but very windy. For families the south resort beaches are all solid choices.
