TITSA (Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife) is the island's public bus operator, running an extensive network of green-and-white "guaguas" (the local Canarian word for buses) connecting every major town, resort and both airports. It is by far the cheapest way to get around the island, though routes to rural areas and the north can be infrequent — always check the current timetable at titsa.com or at the bus station (estación de guaguas) rather than relying on posted times, as schedules are revised periodically. Santa Cruz's main intercambiador (bus and tram interchange) is the hub for most long-distance island routes.
