Getting to Tenerife and around it is straightforward once you know the basics. The island has two airports — Tenerife South (Reina Sofía, TFS) handling most international charter and low-cost flights and sitting close to the southern resorts, and Tenerife North (Los Rodeos, TFN) handling mostly inter-island and Spanish domestic flights and better placed for the north and the capital. Once on the island, a rental car gives the most freedom — Tenerife's roads are well maintained and its motorway network (TF-1, TF-5) covers the coasts, though mountain roads to villages like Masca are narrow and winding.
