Tenerife by Bus: The Complete TITSA Guide
TITSA, the island's public bus company, is the best-value way to get around Tenerife — and one of the most underrated parts of a holiday here. Modern, punctual coaches connect every major resort with the cities, beaches and even mountain villages. Here is how to use the network with confidence.
The key lines
- Line 343 runs from Tenerife South airport (TFS) to Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje — the fastest route to most southern hotels.
- Line 111 links TFS with Santa Cruz along the south, passing the beaches of El Médano and Candelaria.
- Line 110 is the express service between Santa Cruz and the south coast.
- Line 102 connects the north airport with Puerto de la Cruz and La Laguna.
- Line 348 climbs from Los Cristianos to Masca — the only public transport that reaches the famous gorge village.
Fares and tickets
Fares are distance-based and cheap: a short hop costs about €1.50, while a full cross-island journey is €8–10. For multiple trips, buy a Ten+ card at any major station or tobacconist (estanco) — it gives you roughly 40% off every journey and is shared between passengers. Children under 6 ride free, and under-14s get a 50% discount with the Ten+ card.
Riding tips
Buses run from around 6am to 9pm on major lines, less frequently on rural routes — always check the timetable at the station or the TITSA app, and note that Sunday schedules are reduced. Drivers speak limited English, but destinations are displayed electronically. For the airport, the 343 is roughly the same time as a taxi from the south resorts, and around a third of the price. For door-to-door comfort after a long flight, a licensed airport taxi is still the easiest option.
Where the bus beats the car
Parking in Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz is genuinely stressful in summer — the bus drops you at the waterfront. It is also perfect for a day at Playa Jardín or a wine-tasting trip to La Orotava without worrying about who drives home.
One route deserves a special mention: Line 105 hugs the coast from Santa Cruz up to Bajamar and Punta del Hidalgo — arguably the most scenic bus journey on the island. Riding the bus is also the most sustainable way to get around — our sustainable-travel guide has the bigger picture.
