Airport Transfers in Tenerife: Taxis, Buses & Shuttles (2026)
Getting from the airport to your hotel is the first thing you'll do on Tenerife — and the choice you make here can save you both time and money. The island has two airports, a clean public bus network and options at every budget. Here is how to pick the right one.
Step 1: know your airport
Tenerife has two airports about an hour's drive apart, and picking the wrong one costs you a transfer. Tenerife South (Reina Sofía, TFS) handles most holiday flights and sits just 15–20 minutes from Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos. Tenerife North (Los Rodeos, TFN) serves domestic routes and is the better choice for the north, Santa Cruz or La Laguna. Always check which airport your flight uses before booking anything else — see our guide to booking flights for the details.
Taxis: the convenient option
Licensed taxis queue outside both terminals, and fares are set by the meter or a fixed airport rate. From TFS expect about €20 to the southern resorts; from TFN the meter starts lower. Three ways to get one:
- Airport Taxi — Tenerife South — licensed, from €20
- Airport Taxi — Tenerife North — from €15
- The ride-hailing apps TicTaxi, Uber and SIXT ride connect you with the same drivers at fixed upfront prices.
Public bus: the budget option
TITSA's buses are clean, reliable and very cheap. The TITSA bus network covers the whole island; from the south airport:
- Line 343 — direct to Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos, from €9
- Line 111 — direct to Santa Cruz and La Laguna, from €9
Buy a Bono Vía travel card at any TITSA office and each journey costs around 30–40% less. From the north, line 102 connects Santa Cruz to Puerto de la Cruz in about 50 minutes.
Private transfers: door-to-door comfort
If you're travelling with kids, lots of luggage or late at night, a pre-booked private transfer (from €30) is worth every euro — your driver waits at arrivals with a name board and tracks your flight. Cheaper shared shuttles (from €15) drop off at several hotels on the same route. App-based companies such as MyTransfers, Hoppa, Chofix and Shuttle Spain offer both. Many hotels also arrange a meet & greet transfer directly at booking.
Getting around after arrival
If you're based in Santa Cruz or La Laguna, the Metropolitano tram shuttles between them every few minutes for about €1. And if you're arriving by ferry instead — or hopping to La Gomera or Gran Canaria mid-trip — the Fred Olsen and Naviera Armas catamarans leave from Los Cristianos and Santa Cruz.
For door-to-door journeys, the official Radio Taxi ranks and ride-hailing apps cover the whole island, including the quieter corners where buses don't reach. Before you fly out, a direct-route tracker is handy for spotting when a new non-stop to your city appears.
