Nightlife in Tenerife: Bars, Beach Clubs and Late Nights

Tenerife's nightlife divides cleanly into three scenes: the polished beach clubs of the south, the buzzing strips of Playa de las Américas and Veronicas, and the easy-going harbour bars of the north. There is a night out here for every taste.

The south: Costa Adeje and around

Costa Adeje owns the upmarket end — rooftop bars, cocktail lounges and sunset terraces where the dress code is smart-casual. Duque and La Caleta are the spots for a refined evening; the where to stay guide picks hotels with their own bars worth booking around.

The strips: Playa de las Américas and Veronicas

For big nights, the Veronicas area in Playa de las Américas is the classic Tenerife club strip — loud music, party bars and open until the small hours. The how many days itinerary notes which nights the big venues run their flagship parties.

The north: harbour bars and old-town cafés

Puerto de la Cruz does nightlife as harbourfront tapas and live music rather than clubs — a much more relaxed scene. Santa Cruz adds cocktail bars, a craft-beer scene and late-night spots around the Auditorio. For something entirely different, time your trip for carnival season and the fiestas calendar turns the whole island into one long street party.

Practical notes

Bars open late — many venues don't get busy before midnight — and cover charges are rare outside the biggest club nights. Drink prices are lower than northern Europe, which makes the budget guide easy to follow even when you go out. Eat first: the food guide recommends restaurants that stay open late, and the El Médano coast offers the island's most laid-back sunset-drink culture for anyone who prefers a chilled vibe over a big night out.
