Tenerife in February: Carnival at Full Throttle and Pro Tennis
Carnival at full throttle
February is the heart of the carnival season, building on the January opening night. The Santa Cruz Carnival runs from 22 January to 28 February 2027, and February is when it peaks — street parades, the election of the Carnival Queen, the satirical cosos and the famous burial of the sardine that closes the fiesta. The carnival guide has everything you need to join in, and Santa Cruz itself is the stage.
The tennis fortnight
February is the island's professional tennis month: Tenerife hosts two ATP Challenger tournaments back-to-back at the Abama Tennis Academy on the south-west coast, drawing players ranked inside the world's top 100 to courts overlooking the Atlantic — with easy, low-cost spectator entry.
Valentine's in the sun
14 February is genuinely popular on Tenerife: couples book the romantic corners of the island for a mid-winter escape, and it's a fine excuse for a grown-up week of dinners and sunsets.
Still-warm winter sun
The south holds a steady 20–23°C, the winter-sun season is in full swing, whale-watching runs daily, and the best time to visit guide confirms February is one of the sunniest and least crowded months. Book somewhere to stay early for carnival dates, fill the days with the things to do list, and the how many days plan still fits neatly.
